The 1st edition of Walking The Whitsundays will represent the most up-to-date information on all the walks on the Whitsunday Islands and selected walks from the Whitsunday mainland.
45 walks across both national park islands, resort islands and the mainland are included, covering 17 islands in total. Approximately 200 pages long and measuring 15 x 21 cm, the book is the ideal size to keep in your backpack for easy reference as you explore. The book covers:
- The 100 Magic Miles – Introducing the Whitsundays, its geological past and its unique history including the Ngaro people, the Traditional Owners of this land and sea Country
- Getting to the walks – How to get to the walks by sea, air and road and important considerations for accessing the walks around the tides
- Planning and safety – How to choose the right walk for you, what to wear and bring, safety and minimising your impact
- Island walks – Up to date, detailed information on each walk including conditions, walking directions, photographs, elevation profiles, maps, what to look out for and interesting information on the wildlife, flora and history you encounter. All of the walking tracks across the Whitsunday Islands are included, both those in the national park islands that are managed by Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service and those on the resort islands. The islands included are Border Island, Brampton Island, Daydream Island, Hamilton Island, Haslewood Island, Hayman Island, Hook Island, Langford Island, Lindeman Group, Long Island, Newry Islands, South Molle Islands, Whitsunday Island. Also included are the Whitsunday Ngaro Sea Trail which covers multiple islands and seaways, and the new Ngaro Walking Track which is a multi-day track traversing Whitsunday Island, which is not yet open.
